Information regarding ongoing research studies:

Blair Gastroenterology Associates, as part of its clinical activities, conducts research studies about the diseases which afflict our patients.  No one is ever required to be involved in such studies.

They are open, however, to eligible patients who wish to be involved in the "cutting-edge" of treatment for their respective diseases.

Types of studies done in the recent past include treatment trials for diseases such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Hepatitis C, Anal Fissures, and Crohn's disease, investigations into the quality of life of patients with chronic disease, and evaluations of cost effectiveness of new treatments or patient support programs.

In addition to those studies being done in our practice, patients may also be referred, if they so wish, to such centers as the Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, the National Institutes of Health, the University of Pittsburgh, or Hershey Medical Center for selected trials if indicated.

Teaching Activities:

In addition to research activities, the physicians and practitioners at Blair Gastroenterology Associates are committed to teaching.  Traditional lectures and clinical teaching are provided to medical residents, medical students, and nursing and physician assistant students.

We are also very involved in community teaching.  Community services include periodic live television and radio programs to answer telephone questions from the audience as well as engaging in face-to-face lectures and talks with support groups, community action groups, and hospital education programs.

Look for us.  We welcome your questions!
